It's actually a little cheaper for the base model in Canada with the current conversion rates.

true it is but looking at the gas tank which is 13.5 that's bad compared to most of the Compact SUVs I've seen hell the Mazda CX-5 has a 15.3 tank and it's a 4 cylinder so somethings off here

It's not the first place I've seen the 13.5 gas tank. I went into super data collection mode before focusing in on the Hornet. I needed something in the AWD compact/subcompact crossover department with a Max Width (with mirrors) of 82". I compared the Trailblazer, Hornet, Kona, Seltos, and CX-30. The Hornet has the largest fuel tank amongst that company.

I think the CX-5 is a few inches wider (if I remember correctly)

I'll correct myself... the CX-5 is about a TENTH of an inch wider (per MotorTrend) Car Comparison (motortrend.com)
With mirrors, might be closer to an inch, the specs I've seen from Dodge have it at 82" mirror to mirror.
