Almost as if it's being hand-built (by Italian craftsmen).
Do you mean low residual? That's on the leasing company.

There's nothing wrong with Alfa Romeo. I've had two Giulias. Great cars.
Yah I meant low lol I’ve been doing business with my salesman for a long time he was just being honest with me and I would love to know how many miles you put on those giulias

Good to have an honest salesman. We have one we like. Some people are disappointed when sales folks aren't miracle workers. Gotta adjust those expectations.

Sadly, I haven't driven enough miles on my Guilias. I leased both and almost maxed out the first. Then I took delivery of the second at the height of Covid. Together with switching to working from home and traveling less, I'm averaging under 5,000 miles per year on it. I purchased the car at the end of its lease and plan to keep it a long time. The Hornet will be for my wife and kids to argue over.

I forgot to mention that I have another car (a Fiat Spider), purchased just after I took delivery of the second Giulia. So the Giulia has to share me.

I have been a mini Mopar guy myself, I still own the brown Fiat (my wifes car) but, I sold my Abarth back in Sep after I ordered the Hornet and a few weeks ago sold my Grand Cherokee thinking my Hornet would arrive soon since it was delivered in Newark on 28 Dec. Then 2 days later was told all were being held until March. I was a bit frustrated over that.

Nice Abarth! I would have had difficulty parting with that. Your frustration is understandable.
Where in Virginia are you? I lived in Charlottesville in the late 1980s. Some great roads around there.

The lease on my brother-in-law's Grand Cherokee is expiring, and he was shocked by the monthly
payment on a new one. The Hornet feels like a relative bargain.

Thanks, I did have a hard time deciding to sell the Abarth. I did sell it to a close friend though so I still get to see it regularly. I'm in Williamsburg, been here about 15 years now, and leaving in about 3 more when I retire. Where are you at? Ever been to Fiat on the Dragon in Tennessee or any of the Fiat Freakout Events with your spider or Giulia? The Dragon event is coming up in April and Freakout in New Hampshire in June. They are for Fiat, Alfa and other Italian cars basically, mostly Fiats though. Hopefully, the Hornet will be here next month so I take take it to the Dragon in April. Already made all my reservations. I bought the Jeep for towing the Abarth, towed it up to the Dragon last year.

I live in Michigan, and I last visited Williamsburg when our youngest was looking at colleges. I've never been to the Dragon (did you remove the Abarth's front plate when you ran there?) or a Fiat Freakout. I have been to the Woodward Dream Cruise about twenty times plus Casino Square and the Alfa Romeo Museum outside Milan. Where do you plan to go when you retire, and what cars do you expect to keep?

No, I didn't remove the front plate. Not 100% sure where I am going to go but, I don't wanna stay in Virginia. Either home to Indiana (Lafayette area) or somewhere warm and dry, I hate humidity. Not sure what cars I will keep or have after retirement but, I hope to have something to tinker with.

Lafayette (OK, West Lafayette) is also familiar territory as our oldest was looking at graduate schools. In my opinion, older cars are more fun to tinker with than newer cars (unless you're into software).

I love the Spider, got really close to pulling the trigger, but with the top down I was too fat and tall to make it happen, lol! 250lbs and 6'2" is not a good recipe for a subcompact sports car. Its a real shame they didn't keep it updated though and put the new 1.3T engine in it when that came out to replace the older 1.4T and keep up with the Miata version when they updated its engine.

Another update in production as of today, I still don’t have a vin so this might as well be just a confirmed order still.
Another update, If my salesperson is telling me the truth, my car along with the 20 others that his dealership ordered in October are completed and already in America. The dealers are just waiting for dodge to officially release the hornet I’m guessing.

This is when a VIN tracking app would come in handy.

Yeah, they started arriving in the US in late Dec. Mine arrived 28 Dec. But, Dodge said they are letting volume build and gonna do a mass release mid to late March

Just some food for thought: If the car market wasn’t in the condition it’s currently in I would’ve canceled this order weeks ago but a sub 45k car with the options I speced my hornet build with simply doesn’t exist in this crazy market. The prices on anything decent right are so high it’s making being held hostage by dodge at this point worth it just to see what the cost of this thing is actually going to be. I am wondering if anyone else shares my opinion.

Wow, mine went in 2 months before yours and it still shows in production. Even though I know it's in the states already. Trackers are messed up.
